- You have read, understood and agree to the Program Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy (see below).
- You consent to personal information related to your participation in the Program being collected, used, stored, and disclosed in accordance with the Program’s Privacy Policy (see below).
- You own the property described in Section B (Property Information for Display) of this form.
- You consent to Natural Resources Canada disclosing to Metro Vancouver the EnerGuide Home Evaluation.
- You authorize the energy advisor or Service Organization who completed your EnerGuide Home Evaluation to provide a copy of your EnerGuide label to Metro Vancouver.
- You consent to Metro Vancouver collecting, using and storing the information provided to it by Natural Resources Canada, accessed through your provided EnerGuide file number, which may include personal information, related to your participation in the EnerGuide Rating Home Evaluation.
- You consent to Metro Vancouver displaying the following on the RateOurHome.ca website:
- The information provided by you in Section B (Property Information for Display) of this form,
- Information about the property’s EnerGuide rating, including but not limited to parameters such as modelled (not actual) energy consumption, heated floor area and modelled (not actual) greenhouse gas emissions, and
- A copy of the EnerGuide label produced as a result of the EnerGuide Home Evaluation.
- You consent to allow your EnerGuide rating and label to remain on the RateOurHome.ca until such time as the current titled owner of the property notifies Metro Vancouver via email at RateOurHome@metrovancouver.org with a request to remove the property from the RateOurHome.ca website.
RateOurHome.ca Program Official Terms and Conditions
The official terms contained herein (the "Terms") are intended to govern the rights and obligations of
participants in the RateOurHome.ca program (the “Program”). Upon endorsement by each participant,
these Terms shall constitute a fully binding agreement between the Greater Vancouver Regional District
(“Metro Vancouver”), and you, the participant.
Each participant in the Program MUST carefully read these Terms.
By consenting to participate in the Program, you consent to:
- these Terms; and
- the collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal and other information in accordance with the
RateOurHome.ca Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy")
both of which are an integral part of these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms or any of its parts, then you are prohibited and must refrain from
participating in the Program.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible as a participant of the Program (a “Participant”), each Participant must:
- be a registered owner of a residential property (a “Property”) which:
- is located in the Metro Vancouver region; and
- has had an EnerGuide label produced as a result of the Natural Resources Canada EnerGuide
for Homes Evaluation performed in April 2016 or later; and
- desire to voluntarily display the EnerGuide label and associated Property information on the
RateOurHome.ca website.
Acceptance to participate in the Program constitutes a Participant’s full and unconditional agreement
and acceptance of the Terms, which are final on all matters relating to the Program.
PROPERTY REMOVAL
There is no time limit for removing displayed Properties from the RateOurHome.ca website. Removal of
Properties from the website will occur under two situations:
- Participant request: You may terminate your participation in the Program at any time and for
whatever reason by contacting Metro Vancouver and making a request for your Property to be
removed from the RateOurHome.ca website;
- Metro Vancouver discretion: Metro Vancouver retains the right to remove any displayed
Properties at its sole direction.
COPYRIGHT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All intellectual property related to the Program, including, without limitation, all trademarks, trade names,
logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, frameworks, methodologies, tools, interfaces,
processes, techniques and know‐how used in the development, performance and outcome are owned or
licensed by Metro Vancouver. All rights are reserved. Unauthorized copying or use of any copyrighted
material or intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND WARRANTY
Metro Vancouver provides the Program and all content included therein for use on an “as is” and “as
available” basis. Metro Vancouver hereby disclaims all warranties and representations, either express or
implied, with respect to the Program, including, without limitation, any warranties, and fitness for a
particular purpose, features, quality, non‐infringement, title, compatibility, performance, security or
accuracy.
You agree and acknowledge that you assume full, exclusive and sole responsibility for your participation
in the Program, and you further agree and acknowledge that your participation in the Program is made
entirely at your own risk. You further acknowledge that it is your responsibility to comply with all
applicable laws while participating in the Program.
Metro Vancouver will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damage, or any
other damage, and loss (including loss of profit and loss of data), costs, expenses and payments, either in
tort, contractual, or in any other form of liability, arising from, or in connection with the Program.
This limitation of liability shall survive the Program or earlier termination of a Participant’s participation
in the Program.
RateOurHome.ca Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes:
- The information that the Greater Vancouver Regional District (“Metro Vancouver”) collects from those participating (the
“Participants”) in the Program;
- How that information is used by Metro Vancouver; and
- The rights and options available to those Participants.
By consenting to participate in the Program, Participants also consent to this Privacy Policy.
In this Privacy Policy, the term "personal information" means information about an identifiable individual that is recorded in any form, which
may include demographic information, address, contact information, personal opinions or views. References to “information” in this Privacy
Policy are deemed to include references to “personal information”.

Information that is being collected
The categories of information collected by Metro Vancouver will include all or some of the following.
- Eligibility information: Information is collected to establish eligibility for Program participation, including but not limited to home
address and information related to the EnerGuide Home Evaluation.
- Property information: Information on your home and EnerGuide Home Evaluation is collected, including but not limited to
EnerGuide file number, energy advisor that conducted Energy Evaluation, Date of Evaluation, Home Builder, listing ID and web link if
the property is listed for sale, and any other energy efficiency‐related certifications. Metro Vancouver will use the EnerGuide file
number to request and obtain your EnerGuide Home Evaluation data and results from Natural Resources Canada, and contact your
energy advisor to obtain the EnerGuide Rating and label. The additional property information will be used to populate the display
information about your home on the RateOurHome.ca website.
- Contact information: Information collected will be used to communicate with you before, during and after the Program, including
but not limited to name, phone number, email address, home address; collection varies from the use of personal information, please
see below the "Use of Information" section.
- Your application information will be visible only to authorized staff at Metro Vancouver.
Uses of information
Metro Vancouver may use information collected from or provided by you for the purposes provided under this Privacy Policy and the Terms,
including:
- To determine your eligibility for participation in the Program. Metro Vancouver may contact you to confirm or clarify information
submitted on your application form;
- To collect your EnerGuide data from Natural Resources Canada and EnerGuide label from your energy advisor;
- To communicate with you and notify you of details related to the Program;
- To provide you with support and handle requests and complaints; and
- To create aggregated and/or anonymous data (where such data does not enable the identification of a specific user). See “How
does Metro Vancouver use aggregated information?”, below.
Further information may be collected when Metro Vancouver exchanges communications with you, for example, if you submit a request or contact Metro Vancouver’s support team.
How does Metro Vancouver use aggregated information?
Metro Vancouver may use anonymous, statistical or aggregated information (including anonymous location information), in a form that does
not enable the identification of a specific user, to create new services and features and for further analysis and statistical purposes.
Storage of information
All information will be stored on a secure server located at Metro Vancouver’s head office in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The
information will only be accessible to a limited number of authorized staff.
Sharing information with others
Metro Vancouver will not:
- Sell, rent or lease your personal information to third parties; or
- Share your personal information with others, without your consent.
